Invitation SACG Seminar 25 February 2021
SACG
invites to a new seminar on the upcoming reform of the EU platform regime: The Digital Services Act (DSA).
Thursday on 25 February 2021 at 15:00-16:30 hours – online via Teams (click here to join the meeting)
The legislative draft for the DSA was presented by the Commission on 15 December 2020. It forms the first central reform initiative of European e-commerce legislation in over two decades. The proposal has already caused a lot of debate regarding the future governance of platforms, not the least in light of ongoing anti-trust cases against “big tech” and recent events in connection to the US presidency elections. However, the DSA is also a fundamental legislation for anti-counterfeiting and the prevention of IP infringements online.
During this seminar we will review the Commission’s proposal from an anti-counterfeiting perspective – the new additions in the legislation and the potential impact for brands and professionals in the field. An underlying question will be whether the Commission been ambitious enough or if further additions are needed for the DSA to become an effective and sustainable legislation for future anti-counterfeiting and online consumer protection. We will also get an update on the political discussion in the Nordics and Brussels and the road ahead before a final legislation.
Our speakers for the seminar are:
Måns Sjöstrand - Global Head of IP&BP på Daniel Wellington
Benjamin Neyt - Corporate Affairs Manager on LVHM
Sofia Stigmar - EU Lawyer, Swedish Trade Federation
Jenny Sveen Hovda – Partner/Attorney at law Bull & Co Advokatfirma AS
Nina Ringen - Partner/Attorney at law Lundgrens Lawfirm P/S (chairman of the board of DACG)
Jaana Pihkala - Executive Director Copyright Information and Anti-Piracy Centre (the former chairman of the board of FACG)
